Near the end of the regular season for Boston University’s men’s hockey team I had a conversation with one of the most elusive figures in Terrier fandom. His name is Brian Zive, he’s likely one of the most famous people in the world of BU Hockey –– and, probably, college hockey as a whole.
Tara Watchorn is not a new face to Walter Brown Arena, but today she made her first public appearance in the legendary rink under a new title.
After two impressive seasons at Brown University, goaltender Mathieu Caron is headed to Boston University. Caron’s arrival will fill the void left by star netminder Drew Commesso, who signed an entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on April 11.
A flurry of activity on Monday kept the college hockey conversation alive just a little bit longer before the long summer ahead. Much of the news concerned Boston University, so let’s dive into it.
No. 29 is off to the show. After three seasons with Boston University, junior goaltender Drew Commesso has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Commesso was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2020 draft.
The Boston University women’s hockey team announced in a press release Monday morning that Tara Watchorn has been hired as the second head coach in program history. Watchorn will be succeeding coaching legend Brian Durocher, who announced his retirement on February 15.
While he may be the Terriers’ youngest member, Logan Gatto has been a driving force for Boston University the entire season. Whether he’s roaring through warmups or rushing the ice after a victory, the seven-year-old is a spark for the team and constant reminder that hockey is far more than a sport.
The Boston University men’s hockey team will head to Manchester, New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon for the first round of the NCAA Tournament against the Western Michigan Broncos.
Freshman defenseman Lane Hutson and first-year head coach Jay Pandolfo won individual league awards this morning as rookie and coach of the year, respectively.
Friday night’s home game for the Boston University women’s hockey team not only celebrated the accomplishments of this year’s senior class prior to the final regular season game of their collegiate careers, but also the accomplishments of Coach Brian Durocher.
