Sacha Boisvert is headed to Boston University after entering the transfer portal from North Dakota, he announced on social media Thursday.
Boisvert, a center, played his freshman season for the Fighting Hawks, where he led North Dakota in points (32) and goals (18) in 37 games. He was named the NCHC Rookie of the Year.
Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal originally reported that Boisvert was bound for either the Terriers or Boston College.
A native of Trois-Rivières, Que., Boisvert was selected 18th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2024 NHL Draft. He’ll be 19 years old when the 2025-26 season begins.
Boisvert is a self-described “two-way, skilled, power forward who can shoot the puck and can also play the physical game,” he said after being selected in June. Boisvert likes to study Anže Kopitar’s 200-foot game.
He added that, coming into North Dakota, he wanted to improve his skating by getting lower to the ice and increasing his flexibility, as well as getting stronger.
At 6 feet 2 inches tall and 176 pounds, Boisvert boasts good size for a center.
In two games against BU this season in Grand Forks in late October, Boisvert failed to record a point and won only four out of 16 faceoffs.
But overall, Boisvert was solid at the faceoff dot as a freshman for North Dakota, winning 45 percent of his draws.
Boisvert ranked as the fifth-best prospect in the Blackhawks system in The Athletic’s 2025 prospect rankings.
He has a “quick and accurate NHL-level release” with an “impressive work ethic and a two-way commitment,” analyst Scott Wheeler wrote.
Expect Boisvert to make an impact on Comm. Ave. from the moment he arrives.
