Cisse undergoes surgery; done for year

Boston University men’s hockey forward Yasin Cisse underwent surgery today to repair a torn ankle tendon and will miss the rest of the 2010-11 season, according to BU coach Jack Parker.

Cisse injured the ankle tendon in BU’s regular-season opener against against Wisconsin. The injury is the same one that cut Cisse’s United States Hockey League season short last year.

Parker said Cisse will redshirt this season.

  1. Hope he has a full recovery and can manage to stave off major injuries after this point. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for this kid it seems — first we didn’t expect to see him until 2011-12, and then he arrived this year, and now this.

Thankfully for BU, Coyle and Gill up front seem to be two high quality forwards that look to be great players soon.

  2. Agreed, I think the Freshman class this year is exceptional and Coyle will soon be in the NHL before his senior year. Gill especially has a lot of talent that will just be further developed as time goes on.

I think BU has an excellent team despite losing almost all of their experienced players. Either way, we’re still in great shape this season.
