Introducing the 2021-22 Boston Hockey Blog staff

Caroline Fernandez

Caroline is a junior in the Questrom School of Business, majoring in business administration. An active follower of Terrier athletics, Caroline worked as a photographer for the women’s hockey and lacrosse teams for the Daily Free Press last year, and plans to continue covering other sports throughout the 2021-22 season.

Although she’s a New Yorker, Caroline was born in Boston and leaves her loyalties with the state of Massachusetts. To her family’s dismay, she chooses Boston over any of the professional New York sports teams.

Caroline can’t wait to get into the press box to cover the next season of Terrier Hockey with the Boston Hockey Blog as the team works out some unfinished business.

Belle Fraser

Belle is a sophomore in the College of Communication majoring in journalism. Born and raised in New York, she is a die hard Ranger’s fan and has held strong to her loyalties while living in Boston.

She’s the NHL columnist and past associate editor of the sports section for the Daily Free Press and is so excited to be covering Terrier Hockey this season with the Boston Hockey Blog.

James Garrison

James is a freshman journalism major in the College of Communication. In addition to writing for the Boston Hockey Blog, James talks on the WTBU sports radio show and has his own hockey podcast. In high school, James did radio play-by-play and color commentary for a variety of sports including hockey, baseball, softball, and lacrosse.

As a Massachusetts and Boston area native, James grew up playing AAA hockey and is a die-hard Boston sports fan and grew up coming to BU hockey games as a kid.

Additionally, James talks on the WTBU sports radio show and has his own hockey podcast. He can’t wait to get started covering the Terriers this year.

Gillian McMahon

Gillian is a sophomore in the Questrom School of Business, planning to concentrate on information systems and marketing. She grew up in a small Connecticut beach community.

As a New Englander it is no surprise that Gillian is a die hard Boston sports fan, with Terrier hockey being no exception. Despite not growing up around the sport of hockey, Gillian has immersed herself in Terrier Hockey since she knew she was headed to BU.

Gillian is excited to be a part of the Boston Hockey Blog and looks forward to covering some exciting action this year.

Mark Fraenkel

Mark Fraenkel is a freshman in CAS studying Political Science. Originally from Newton, MA, Mark is a huge Boston sports fan and has a passion for college athletics. In addition to writing for the Boston Hockey Blog and the Daily Free Press Sports Section, Mark also serves as a Public Address Announcer for various BU teams.
