Terriers adding Ashton Abel for the second half

The Terriers announced on Saturday night that they would be bringing in goaltender Ashton Abel ahead of the second half of the 2019-20 season.

Playing in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) before the move to BU, Abel last appeared in the crease for the Okotoks Oilers, sporting a 2.16 goals-against average (GAA) and .910 save percentage in 26 games this season. With the AJHL’s Calgary Mustangs for two seasons, he finished the 2017-18 campaign with a 3.72 GAA and a .902 save percentage before improving in 2018-19 for a 2.88 GAA and .909 save percentage.

The six-foot, 160-pound 20-year old was previously uncommitted, and will now join a crowded BU goaltending group including graduate Sam Tucker, sophomore Vinnie Purpura, and senior Nico Lynch.
