The Terriers begin their season on Oct. 1 with a scrimmage.

The Boston University men’s hockey team released its 2016-17 schedule Friday morning.

The regular season will kick off in early October with two preseason contests against the University of Prince Edward Island and the U.S. National U-18 squad. Afterwards, Agganis Arena will play host to 16 regular-season games and the Terriers will take to the road 15 times. There are three games at neutral sites.

Notable away trips include visits to the University of Denver on Oct. 14 and 15, as well as to the University of Michigan on Nov. 11 and 12. BU will also participate in Frozen Fenway 2017 on Jan. 7 against the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

As usually holds true, there will likely be increased focus on matchups with Boston College. Regular season affairs will take place on Jan. 13 and and 16, both of which are during BU’s winter break. The sides will again meet in the opening round of the 2017 Beanpot Tournament on Feb. 6.

When BU advances to the Beanpot’s consolation or championship game on Feb. 13, it will take on either Harvard University or Northeastern University.

In sum, the Terriers will play 22 Hockey East games and 14 out-of-conference games.

  1. Although I wish it could be a regular season game, I am very pleased to see that for the first time in a while, Alumni Weekend will include a men’s ice hockey game and pre-game party. Definitely going to that one!

  2. In the list of BU Recruits, please correct date Hank Crone is entering BU. From what I can see, he must be scheduled to come in in 2017, not 2016.
