Off to its best nine-game start since 2014, the Boston University women’s hockey team is first in Hockey East and has won five straight games. Fresh off a home sweep of Syracuse University, the Terriers (6-3, 4-1 HE) are set for two games against Providence College.
The BU men’s hockey team received a wake-up call with a 7-2 loss to North Dakota at Ralph Engelstad Arena on Friday evening in a contest where the stage was just too big for the Terriers.
The Boston University women’s hockey team (4-3-0, 4-1-0 Hockey East) will look to win their fourth and fifth straight at Syracuse University’s Tennity Ice Pavilion, where they will take on the Orange (2-5-0) on Friday and Saturday.
The Terriers (2-3-0, 1-2-0 Hockey East) broke the 12-game winless streak, including a heartbreaker in last season’s Beanpot Final, with a 4-0 shutout of the No. 12 Huskies (3-3-0, 1-1-0 HEA) at Agganis Arena Saturday afternoon.
There was little room to defend BU’s on-ice product — the Terriers were sloppy, undisciplined and completely dominated in the neutral zone — so a scathing review of that piece, if abnormal for head coach Tara Watchorn, wouldn’t have been all that noteworthy. But this was more than that. From the very first question — unprompted — Watchorn widened the scope.
The Boston University women’s hockey team fell 4-0 to No. 13 Northeastern on Friday night in a chippy game highlighted by the Huskies’ fast-paced offense and a late second-period rally.
On the heels of two competitive losses, 1-0 and 5-2, to No. 2 Minnesota, the Boston University women’s hockey team (1-2, 1-0 Hockey East) has another steep hill to climb, as it is set to face No. 13 Northeastern.

The Boston University men’s hockey team delivered, defeating the No.1 Boston College Eagles, 4-3, in the Dunkin’ Beanpot semifinal and proving it can hang with the big dogs.
The Boston University’s men’s ice hockey team will play in its second get-back game in a row this weekend against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats.
