Bobo Carpenter signs with New York Islanders

Bobo Carpenter has signed a two-year entry-level deal that will take effect next season with the New York Islanders after entering the offseason a free agent.

Formerly a senior forward with Boston University, the North Reading, Massachusetts native was named a 2017-18 New England All-Star, 2017-18 Hockey East Second Team All-Star, one-time Hockey East Player of the Week, and member of the 2017 Hockey East All-Academic Team.

Carpenter skated in all 39 games during his first year with the team, contributing three postseason goals as a freshman to close out the 2015-16 season. As a sophomore, Carpenter tied for second on the team with 14 goals, also posting a career-best eight-game point streak.

Taking over as an assistant captain for 2017-18, Carpenter led BU with 20 goals and tied for the team lead in points (35) and game-winning goals (4). Becoming a senior captain, Carpenter tallied a team-leading nine goals by the end of 2018, before missing 10 games due to injury late in the season.

Originally coming to BU from the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League, Carpenter now closes out his four years as a Terrier with 56 goals and 46 assists in 144 games. The captain notched two hat tricks, and tallied three assists in a single game on one occasion.

During Carpenter’s time at BU, the Terriers won a Hockey East championship and made three appearances in the national tournament.

Moving on to the New York Islanders, Carpenter will get a chance to continue his hockey career by joining an organization that has stockpiled prospects as it continues to build up its system.
