BU forward/defenseman T.J. Ryan has decided to cut his playing career short due to injury-related issues, according to a source.
Ryan missed a considerable amount of playing time as a sophomore due to concussion problems, playing in just three games in 2014-15. He tallied one assist in those games and had a plus-2 rating.
As a freshman in 2013-14, the son of BU alum and radio broadcaster Tom Ryan played in a total of 24 games, recording one goal and one assist.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
TJ is a good kid from a good family. I appreciate his two years with our hockey team. I also fondly remember a goal he scored against BC during his freshman season. Optimizing brain health (preventing further concussions) is an admirable choice/priority for TJ and many other athletes. Best wishes to him in his post-hockey life.
I second Glenn’s sentiments
Health is more important TJ. Sit in the same row as your Mom – Jill at Agganis Arena and had many of conversations with her. Met you a few times. Wish you the best TJ.
Yea, health very important.
Problem is what was a very large roster in now down to fumes on the bench. Can we bring in some walk on or is it too late ? It is a long season and other things can happen.
Last year’s roster: 16F, 7D, 3G
This year’s roster 15F, 8D, 3G
Fumes?
Terrier Blogger: We are down to only 12 forwards that can play D l. We have lost four if you count Ryan as a F.
