Men’s and Women’s Hockey Schedules Announced

The Boston University Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams announced their schedules for the 2022-23 season this afternoon, and Terrier fans have a lot to be excited about. Between exhibition games, non-conference rivals, and holiday tournaments, the upcoming Terrier Hockey seasons are ones to look forward to.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

The Terrier Women’s Hockey Team will drop the puck on the 22-23 season on September 23 at Walter Brown Arena against the Université de Moncton Blue Eagles. The exhibition will kick off the first of 17 home games, with the official start of the season falling on October 7 against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, followed by a game against Union the following day.

Later into the season the Terriers will face another set of Eagles in a home-and-home series against cross-town rivals Boston College on October 21 and 22. The BC series falls towards the beginning of a 12-game Hockey East streak, beginning the week before on October 14 against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats and concluding with back-to-back games against the University of Connecticut Huskies.

To close out the month of November, the team will head cross-country to Henderson, Nevada for a Las Vegas Thanksgiving tournament at the Dollar Loan Center. After Thanksgiving dinner, the Terriers will first face Yale on November 25, and then will take on either the Penn State Nittany Lions or Minnesota Golden Gophers in the second round.

Following the Thanksgiving series, the Terriers will ship back to Boston for three more games at Wally B to conclude the 2022 campaign with back-to-back games against the University of Maine and a final matchup against the Holy Cross Crusaders on December 9.

Just under a month later, the Terriers will pick up right where they left off and start 2023 against the Crusaders before taking on reigning Hockey East– and nearly national– champions, the Northeastern University Huskies on January 8.

One month later, the dog fight will resume as the Huskies and Terriers face off in the 44th annual Women’s Beanpot on the first Tuesday in February. Later that week, the Terriers will take on the BC Eagles yet again, before facing either the Eagles or Harvard Crimson on Valentines Day for the Beanpot Finals.

The Huskies will make their way back to Comm Ave for the fourth time in the 2022-23 campaign with a home-and-home series on February 17 and 18 to close out the regular season.

MEN’S HOCKEY

Just a block away, the BU Men’s Hockey Team will kick off their own season against Bentley University on October 1, and one week later, they’ll take on the University of Waterloo Warriors in an exhibition matchup, both at home.

The Terriers will then head to Ann Arbor, Michigan for their first away series of the season. The Wolverines and Terriers last faced off in March of 2018 in Worcester, MA when Michigan knocked BU out of the NCAA Northeast Regional final. With loads of NHL talent on the Michigan roster, this series will definitely put the Terriers to the test early in the year.

The next week, BU will take on the University of Connecticut Huskies with two home games to kick off an eight-game Hockey East streak.

Following the Hockey East series, the Terriers will take on the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish at home before Thanksgiving, on November 23. The two last met in 2017 with a split series to end the regular season at home. After the holiday, BU will face the US U-18 team in an exhibition matchup.

December 9 the Green Line Rivalry will light back up in Chestnut Hill, before the Terriers close out the calendar year on December 30 against Harvard at home.

To start the new year, BU will fly out to Arizona to participate in the Desert Hockey Classic. They’ll first face Air Force on January 6, before taking on either Arizona State or Michigan Tech on Saturday. Worth noting is a possible reunion for the Terrier senior class and former teammate Robert Mastrosimone, who transferred to ASU following the 2021-22 season.

They’ll later see Cornell at home on January 14. After losing Red Hot Hockey in the most recent renditions, the Terriers will be able to take on the Big Red on their own ice.

Less than a month later, BU will play to defend their title as reigning Beanpot Champions as they play Northeastern in the semifinals, and one week later, face BC or Harvard in either the championship game or consolation round to try to earn their 32nd trophy.

The regular season of the 101st campaign for the Terriers will close on March 3 and 4 with a home and home series against Providence College, before heading into the Hockey East Tournament.

With lots of exciting matchups to come, the countdown to puck drop has begun. Follow along for more coverage and updates on both the BU Men’s and Women’s hockey teams this off-season on Twitter @BOSHockeyBlog and Instagram @Boston.Hockey.Blog.

I am excited about our challenging schedule but am disappointed that both Notre Dame and Cornell games will take place while most students are away.

  2. if there are fewer students away for the Cornell and ND games thats fine with me, better tickets available. Lets just hope the team is good enough to be competitive in those games

  3. I think we are in position to have a really good year. You have to remember we were told over and over that we had the best coaching staff in the country last year by Colin. This staff should bring us back to where we belong. My prediction is that we will leave the last four years in the rear window

    Go BU

I am most excited by our puck-moving defensemen. Fensore, Gallagher and Hutson are going to create a plethora of offensive opportunities.

  5. I don t think it matters when we play games the students do not go. Evan if BU gave free tickets to the students I still say 75% would not go unless it was for a BC game and they seem able to sell those. So your back to the same issue BU has to many students that do not care about hockey. BU is not alone there

  6. Macklin Celebrini will be playing his college hockey at BU in 2023! This has been the best recriting week in Terrier history!

  7. Wait a minute better then getting Lachance and Tkachuk in the same year or
Keller Fabbro and Oettinger and there are more good ones.

Let s just hope he gets to BU

Not sure if those guys you mentioned all happened in the same week.
