On Friday night at the Alfond Arena, redshirt sophomore goaltender Max Prawdzik made his second collegiate start in net. Despite putting up 42 shots, with 18 in the final period, BU was only able to get two past Maine’s sophomore goaltender Jeremy Swayman for a final score of 5-2 in favor of the Black Bears.

The following evening at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, the Terriers were able to convert their opportunities for a season-high seven goals. Sophomore goaltender Jake Oettinger made 30 saves to shutdown any goals for Maine and recorded his sixth career shutout.

For freshman Terriers – Kasper Kotkansalo, Logan Cockerill, Hank Crone and Brady Tkachuk – also scored their first goals as Terriers. Kotkansalo finished the series with one goal and one assist, Cockerill had two goals and two assists and Crone picked up an assist in addition to his goal.

Freshman forward Shane Bowers registered two goals and one assist over the series. Freshman forward Jake Witkowski and freshman defenseman Cam Crotty each tallied their first collegiate points.

BU will play in the 6th biannual Red Hot Hockey game at Madison Square Garden this upcoming Saturday. Be sure to follow along on the live blog and Twitter as Boston Hockey Blog travels to New York City.

  1. Does anybody know if Dante Fabbro got injured blocking a shot near the end of Saturday night’s game? How about Brandon Hickey and John Macleod? Were they healthy scratches or are they injured?

  2. I did hear Coach Quinn say on Inside BU Hockey that he hopes to have Hickey back by the Cornell game. So I know with #4 it’s been an injury.

  3. When did he say that? Before or after Saturday night’s game? Did he say anything about Fabbro?

  4. IBUH is produced before the weekend; so of course there was no mention of Fabbro. I listened to it again and he said Hickey has a broken hand. Are you familiar with how to access those podcasts?

    • Thanks for the info Glenn. I didn’t know IBUH is produced before the weekend. Doesn’t look like Hickey will be available if he has a broken hand. And no, I am not familiar with how to access the podcasts. Can you let me know how? Thanks.

  5. There will be a link to that weekly program which can be found in either the Thursday or Friday edition of the Terrier Hockey Fan Blog … assuming that there will be at least one game on the subsequent weekend. For instance:

    You’re welcome Dan!

  6. Happy Thanksgiving to all my BU Hockey friends!
