North Andover product Jake Wise has committed to play for the Boston University men’s hockey team, according to multiple reports.
The ’00-born freshman out of Central Catholic is widely regarded as an elite prospect, and has even drawn comparisons to another elite BU recruit.
“He is a really dominant player, and has been for some time now — since he was a mite, really,” said Chris Masters, a member of the Junior Bruins organization and a former coach of Wise, in 2013. “Jack Eichel was also a dominant player, but at the same age I think Jake might be slightly ahead of him. There is no doubt that (Wise) is a sure-fire NTDP/D-I prospect.”
The 5-foot-10, 134-pound Wise is just the latest top recruit for BU assistant coach Steve Greeley.
I knew this would happen one day (seeing a BU recruit born in the 21st century) and wasn’t quite ready to wrap my head around that reality when the news broke this afternoon. After reading about the mind-blowing numbers he put up in the mites and bantams, I feel it was a wise decision for both parties. OK, someone had to say it 😉
