From the FreeP: Powerful penalty kill able to keep Black Bears at bay

Before its high-profile matchup with No. 7 University of Maine on Saturday, the No. 3 Boston University men’s ice hockey team may have been anticipating how its third-best penalty kill in the nation would match up against the Black Bear’s seventh-ranked power play.

The Terriers got answers to any lingering questions early in the game.

After just 1:54, BU had to kill off 57 seconds of a Maine 5-on-3 advantage by virtue of cross-checking penalties to sophomore defenseman Max Nicastro and sophomore forward Alex Chiasson. The Terriers were up to the challenge, allowing only one shot on goal during the 5-on-3 and forcing Maine to pass more often than it would have liked.
