I’m not going to go through all the scenarios of where in the standings BU can finish because, quite frankly, there are way too many possibilities. However, here is what the Terriers need to do make the playoffs.
BU clinches a playoff spot by taking at least two points from Northeastern.
If BU only takes one point, it needs ONE of the following to happen:
-Maine to take at least one point from UMass.
-Providence to take at least two points from Merrimack.
-UMass-Lowell to sweep Vermont.
-Vermont to sweep UMass-Lowell.
If BU doesn’t take any points, it needs ONE of the following to happen:
-Maine to take at least two points from UMass.
-Providence to take at least three points from Merrimack.
So, BU can clinch a playoff spot Friday night with ANY of the following:
-A BU win.
-A UMass loss.
-A BU tie and UMass tie.
-A BU tie and Merrimack loss.
BU can not be eliminated from the playoffs Friday night.
Either Friday night or Saturday morning, I’ll post all the scenarios of where BU can finish heading into the final night of the season.
It should also be noted that in the final standings, it’s impossible for BU and Northeastern to play in the QF’s.
True. BU could play UNH, BC, Maine, UML, UVM or Merrimack.
