The Boston University women’s hockey team saw its four-game win streak come to an end this past weekend against Northeastern University.

Star junior forward Jesse Compher remained sidelined with a lower-body injury as the #9 Terriers (5-3-1, 2-3-1 Hockey East) took on #4 Huskies (7 -1, 4-1 Hockey East) in a home-and-home series.

In their 2-1 defeat Friday Night at Walter Brown Arena, BU freshman forward Julian Nearis was able to notch her fourth goal of the season in the Terriers, extending her point streak to three games. Senior defender Abby Cook and redshirt senior forward Sammy Davis both assisted on Nearis’ power-play goal in the second period, with Cook’s point-streak becoming six games and Davis’s moving to three games.

The Terriers were kept quiet by the Huskies on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena, being shut out for just the second time this season.

BU lead in shots for most of the matchup, but could not find the back of the net. Junior goaltender Corrine Schroeder of BU finished with 20 saves after making 35 the night before. Through nine games,, BU is led offensively by Davis and Nearis who both have four goals apiece. Davis is the outright points leader with eleven.

This upcoming weekend, BU will travel to Providence College to take on the Friars in a Saturday matinee.

Providence (4-4-2, 2-2-0 Hockey East) is coming off a 5-2 loss against Boston College Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Maureen Murphy of PC scored both goals for the Friars in the defeat. and now leads the team in goals (7) and points (11). Senior defender Whitney Dove leads the Friars in assists with six.

The Friars are averaging 2.1 goals per game, while allowing their opponents 2.4 goals per game. Meanwhile, the Terriers are averaging 2.6 goals per game, while keeping their opponents to 1.6 goals per game.

Senior goaltender Clare Minnerath has started played in nine games for the Friars so far this season, earning a 2.68 AVG and a .894 save percentage for PC.

BU and Providence appear to be evenly matched on paper, with the Terriers having a slight upper-hand on the Friars as they went 2-1 against PC last season. In their most recent matchup, however, BU lost 2-1 in their regular-season finale at Walter Brown Arena: the loss snapped a 14-game unbeaten streak where the Terriers went 11-0-3.

BU will look to bounce back from their winless weekend against Northeastern when they travel to Providence this Saturday. The puck is set to drop at 2 p.m. in Schneider Arena.
