Terriers comes from behind to tie Merrimack, 3-3

NORTH ANDOVER — The No. 1 Boston University men’s ice hockey team must love playing hockey, because they went to overtime for the third consecutive game on Saturday at Merrimack College. The Terriers overcame a 3-1 deficit in order to take the game the extra five minutes and finished with a 3-3 draw.

Junior forward Corey Trivino potted the tying goal for BU with 4:42 to go in the final frame when Merrimack goaltender Joe Cannata, thinking he had made the save, lost track of the puck and Trivino slipped it just over the goal line.

“I thought this was a much better game than [Friday] night,” BU coach Jack Parker said. “Two ties, two overtime games, you would think they would be similar but I thought both teams played much better. There was more flow to the game.”

“Anytime you come back from a 3-1 deficit, it’s almost like a win. We’re really happy with that point, much more than we were with the point from [Friday] night.”
