Andrew Glass and Zach Cohen Postgame Transcript

Glass
On having to sit and watch for more than a month before getting in tonight:
It was frustrating for a while, but you just have to keep working hard and hope that eventually it’ll pay off. It was nice to finally get in there and nice to kind of take advantage of the situation and just put one in.

On his goal:
Just a scramble in front of the net. My linemates –– Popko and Pereira –– were really good down low tonight. We were just kind of throwing pucks at the net, and it just came to my stick and I shot it and it went in.

On the mental aspect of sitting for such a long period of time:
It’s funny, I actually talked to Zach this week about it because he was in a similar situation before. He just basically said, ‘Keep your head up and keep working hard. Eventually it’s gonna pay off and you’re gonna get your chance, and just take advantage of it.’ Coach told me I was in the lineup, so I said, ‘Just play confident and loose and see what happens.’

On the play of his line:
Last night I played with Nicky and then today I played with Conno, so it’s been a little different the past three games. But I played with Conno a little bit last year and had good chemistry with him then. We didn’t play too well last night, and obviously we lost, but I thought we played real well tonight. All four lines played real well. We had a lot of chances. They were just sticking right in front of the net, but we were able to make some plays and it was good to pull out a win.

On how much he practices tipping shots:
I try as much as possible just to get in front of the net. If I get a stick on it, I get a stick on it. But mostly I’m just trying to get in front of the goalie. It was a nice play by Max to find me. I was a little off net. I wasn’t really in front. I got a stick on it and it went in.

On what the players were thinking when they just couldn’t beat Alex Beaudry:
We were playing real well. We threw a lot of dirty shots on in the first two periods. We knew he was a good goalie and we just kept going at him and kept playing as well as we were.

On getting more grade-A chances in the third period:
Throughout the week, we knew that they all pack in around the net. We were working on a play from the goal line up to the point for a quick one-timer or some give-and-gos right in front of the net. We were playing real well down low and cycling it, and luckily we found the D and they were firing a lot of shots from up top. We were getting people to the net.

On the magnitude of this win:
It was huge. If we didn’t win this, it was gonna be tough for us to stay in home ice. Now we have two more points in the league and we’re back over .500 for the year. So it was a pretty big confidence boost for us.
