Gryba day-to-day with shoulder injury

By Scott McLaughlin/DFP Staff
Senior defenseman Eric Gryba is day-to-day with a nagging left shoulder injury, according to a source close to the team. The alternate captain suffered the injury a couple weeks ago, but has not missed any practice time and is not expected to miss any games, the source said.
Gryba had the shoulder heavily iced during Saturday night’s postgame press conference, but brushed aside any questions about it, calling it “a little scratch, nothing too serious.”

  1. It is a long season and with shoulder injuries taking it’s toll on the team, any injury like this should be handled with rest and rehab. An awkward move or hit while injured could end Gryba’s season or set it back many weeks or months. The staff should be smart and tell him to take a week or two to heal up at least, then see how he is after.

  2. I agree with this thought. Shoulder injuries can get worse after the initial damage with very little additional effort. Unless the team is looking for Eric to break the penalty record in the next 2-3 weeks, they should let him rest it. It would stink if he really hurts it and is out for the year (ending his college career as well)

  3. Good luck getting this guy not to play. He is not there to sit on the bench. Rest may be the best but I don’t see it happening unless it is a serious injury.
