Live Blog: BU at Merrimack

We’re live at Merrimack’s Lawler Rink in North Andover, Massachusetts for a Tuesday night clash between BU and the Warriors.

The Terriers are the nation’s newest No. 1 team, while Merrimack’s season can be defined by inconsistency. They’re 8-13-3 on the year; BU, on the other hand, is riding an eight-game winning streak.

Trends aside, tonight’s tilt should be full of energy and intensity, as Lawler is probably the smallest barn in Hockey East.

Be sure to follow along on our live blog for updates throughout the contest!

  1. I’m a loser
    I’m a loser
And I’m not what I appear to be

Of all the love I have won, and have lost
There is one love I should never have crossed
She was a girl in a million my friend
I should have known she would win in the end

  2. Oettinger has won the last 4 games…and a kid who scored 3 goals in 4 periods sits in the stands…#advantageQuinn

  3. Played great against Vermont..Yale and Union…then Oettinger bailed them out the last 4 games…easy to figure out

  4. You have Diffley and Switzer in the stand fresh…and on the 3rd game in 5 nights you play the same guys who gave up at least 15 odd man rushes in 2 games against Maine..Seriously Quinn the NHL will let you give them one night off

  5. Good thing Macloud is in for Switzer…lol

  6. Bellows needs to play more????…what about Switzer…good god

  7. Hi Jonathan,
Do you know anything about Nikolas Olsson’s injury?
Also, why did LaCouvee start tonight and not Oettinger?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    • Dan,

All I know for now is that it’s an upper-body injury. A spokesman for BU didn’t have more info when I asked if it was connected to last year’s shoulder troubles.

As for LaCouvee starting, I think it was more just trying to get new legs in there. Last night’s game against Merrimack was BU’s third in five days, and coach Quinn was spoken at length about trying to keep it fresh. My opinion is we’ll Oettinger for both games this weekend.

      Best,
      Jon

  8. Hi Dan. Of course I know that you were asking that question of Jonathan and certainly not me. So, my apologies for chiming in my two cents. However, I assume that the reason LaCouvee started this evening and not Oettinger was that we are in the middle of a highly unusual stretch in which we have five games in nine days. LaCouvee had a 3-0 record going into this game and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give Oettinger a rest.

  9. ” LaCouvee, by no means, was the reason the Terriers stumbled”
    Shelby Reardon

  10. I totally agree Fred/Shelby! With our firepower, we definitely should have been able to score four goals.

  11. Quinn says the players that playing the best will be on the ice gameday.Fakenews.

  12. I do not think Coach Quinn needs to worry about the Islanders, play the kids that will help us win!

  13. Quinn will never get an NHL job because he doesn’t know how to use his entire roster well enough, so we don’t have to worry about him leaving.

    • omg vito, you’re a hoot!!! Clearly you don’t know he’s already turned down NHL jobS??
And “GUEST” we know you’re shane’s family/friend….let it go….he’s not good enough to beat any D out of their position at this time, sorry.
