Local elite ’00 prospect Jake Wise commits to BU

North Andover product Jake Wise has committed to play for the Boston University men’s hockey team, according to multiple reports.

The ’00-born freshman out of Central Catholic is widely regarded as an elite prospect, and has even drawn comparisons to another elite BU recruit.

“He is a really dominant player, and has been for some time now — since he was a mite, really,” said Chris Masters, a member of the Junior Bruins organization and a former coach of Wise, in 2013. “Jack Eichel was also a dominant player, but at the same age I think Jake might be slightly ahead of him. There is no doubt that (Wise) is a sure-fire NTDP/D-I prospect.”

The 5-foot-10, 134-pound Wise is just the latest top recruit for BU assistant coach Steve Greeley.

  1. I knew this would happen one day (seeing a BU recruit born in the 21st century) and wasn’t quite ready to wrap my head around that reality when the news broke this afternoon. After reading about the mind-blowing numbers he put up in the mites and bantams, I feel it was a wise decision for both parties. OK, someone had to say it 😉
